About Me
Wheelchair Basketball
I'm Sarah Hope, the founder of Hoopin' Hopes. I acquired my disability in 2009 and started playing basketball shortly after. I played in every division of the BWB league, from D3 up to Premier League, for Coventry. I also played for Coyotes (the GB women's squad in the league), and for Great Britain on the international stage. I was fortunate enough to be a part of the team that achieved silver at the 2018 World Championships.

At the conception of the Women's Premier League I signed with, and captained, the Worcester Wolves team for two years. Unfortunately, in 2022, I started having more issues with my legs and was forced to pause training and competing for now. However, having worked 1:1 with some of my Wolves teammates, I discovered that there was a gap in individualised technical coaching in Britain. Since I stopped playing a couple of years ago I have found that I'm still able to pass on my knowledge and so Hoopin' Hopes was formed.

1. Booking

2. Session Planning
This is my part
Using the information on the booking form, plus any other conversations we've had, I'll create a tailor- made session plan.

3. Training Session
The fun bit
We will meet at a sports hall and have a 1-hour training session, with emphasis on being technically correct for your level of play, classification, and type of impairment. While there will absolutely be time to practise each technique, there will be an assumption that you do the majority of reps in your own time, so that I can maximise the amount of coaching in that one hour window.

After the session has finished I will type up a list of what we covered and send it to you so that you can continue practising the drills in your own time. If you need any help putting this into a session plan then I can do that too.

Is This Right For Me?
Unless you're Patrick Anderson, the answer is YES.
Club training sessions can be busy and intimidating. There can be pressure there to constantly perform and not try new things. Maybe the coaches are dealing with a whole group of different abilities and there might not be the resources for someone to watch and help with your technique. Perhaps you feel like you're not given a chance because you're young, or female, have the "wrong" disability, or are neurodivergent. Or maybe you just want that extra edge to help get your team promoted!
I will give you the time and space to understand each technique in a way that works for you. All you need to bring is an open mind and the bravery to try things outside your comfort zone.
